The mayor of Marbella, Ángeles Muñoz, and the group CEO of Al-Thani, Moayad Shatat have signed on Friday the 6th of September the acceptance of shares in the management company for the expansion of the port of La Bajadilla, whose works are expected to begin the first half of 2014.

The society shall consist of Adullah Bin Nasir and Sons Ltd of 97 percent, the Marbella Town Hall with two percent, and Marina of Marbella on one percent.

The councilor explained to reporters that “as of this moment the expansion project becomes a partnership with all the legal entitites in compliance with the specification.”

He stated that “the city accepts the donation of shares without payment and, therefore, the entire budget contribution will be borne by the owner of the 97 percent.”

Work to begin first half of 2014

A technical committee will be set-up which will meet on a monthly basis which will also involve the director of Heritage Hall, Mario Ruiz, and the municipal technical team.

Munoz has gave to the representative of the group Al-Thani his “full confidence in the strength of the project” and noted that “Marbella needs the port an increase moorings to help create jobs and transform the city.”

Moayad Shatat, meanwhile, thanked the cooperation of the municipality and has emphasized that the construction works could begin in the first half of 2014.
